ABOUT ME
Designing spaces that are meant to be experienced.
Hello! I’m Darine Abdelghani, a third-year Interior Design student in a CIDA-accredited program at Vancouver Island University in Nanaimo, BC, Canada. My approach to design is rooted in the belief that a space should be felt just as much as it is seen. To me, design isn't just about aesthetics; it’s about the profound feeling and the atmosphere a person carries with them after they leave a room.
I am deeply inspired by global cultures and the way different environments evoke emotion. Growing up Egyptian and spending most of my life in Saudi Arabia has shaped how I read space, how materials, light, sound, and everyday rituals can communicate identity, comfort, and belonging. That lens naturally carries into my design process, where I also fuse my love for media, music, and cinema to create felt experiences that resonate on a deeper level. I am constantly seeking opportunities to further expand my knowledge and apply my creative vision to professional projects that solve real-world design challenges.
Outside of design, you’ll usually find me exploring new music, starting a show I’m definitely not going to finish, attempting an extremely complicated dish, or spending time with the people I love.
